This thesis is aimed to the analysis of thin films of iron deposited on the reconstructed (111) gold surface using scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy (STM-STS) techniques in order to characterize with high spatial resolution their morphological, structural and electronic properties. The goal is to characterize the system in initial stages of growth, up to 7.5 equivalent ML and to the transition to the iron bcc phase. This study is of great interest in order to extend the basic knowledge and in view of technological applications in many areas where nanostructured surfaces are used, such as chemical catalysis and spintronics.

Abstract
This thesis is aimed to the analysis of thin films of iron deposited on the reconstructed (111) gold surface using scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy (STM-STS) techniques in order to characterize with high spatial resolution their morphological, structural and electronic properties. The goal is to characterize the system in initial stages of growth, up to 7.5 equivalent ML and to the transition to the iron bcc phase. This study is of great interest in order to extend the basic knowledge and in view of technological applications in many areas where nanostructured surfaces are used, such as chemical catalysis and spintronics.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
