The aim of this master thesis is to analyse the fluid dynamics of an internal combustion engine's combustion chamber with Otto cycle. The computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis is carried out via the general purpose software STAR-CCM+ by CD-Adapco using the ``Overset Mesh Zero Gap'' technology for the simulation of the perfect contact between bodies. Since none of the existent models match the geometry of this object and the law of motion of its components, general sizing is conducted under the guidance of theory. The purpose of this exercise is to run an in-cylinder analysis without the support of a standard CFD software traditionally used in ICE's field 's studies. The primary flux variables being monitored during the simulation are: combustion chamber pressure, intake fresh charge mass, interaction between gasoline injection and the organized charge motion inside the cylinder.

Abstract
The primary flux variables being monitored during the simulation are: combustion chamber pressure, intake fresh charge mass, interaction between gasoline injection and the organized charge motion inside the cylinder.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
