This thesis was born from the desire to investigate the issue of diversity and how it is perceived and stigmatized, focusing the attention on the consequences of discriminatory attitides in lifes of those who are perceived as “different”. This thesis analyzes the terms culture, frame and encyclopedia, focusing on how “normality” and “diversity” take form from incomprehensions and simplifications. It doens’t focus on ethnicity, but rather on those people who suffer from physical and mental illnesses, because in the modern society those people are often socially excluded by the community beacause they are perceived as different. This thesis is about Game Studies and Game Design and presents an analysis of the literature, followed by the design of a game which can help the comprehension of the difficulites that those stigmatized individuals have to face every day. This thesis analyzes how the game can be a valid media to communicate and incentivize critical thinking about a matter. In particular, it has been focused Persuasive Games which are able to persuade gamers through Procedural Rhetoric (Bogost, 2007), a complex system of rules that could be able to stimulate a critic relfection about his in-game behaviour, extending what has been learned even in real life. Persuasive games encourage change of frames, new information reception and open mindedness towards a personal change. Hence the design of the project Nelle tue Mani, a persuasive game aimed at stimulating a consideration about the social exclusion attitudes, the stigma on individuals who are perceived as different, and their need to mask their flaws in order to be accepted.

Abstract
Hence the design of the project Nelle tue Mani, a persuasive game aimed at stimulating a consideration about the social exclusion attitudes, the stigma on individuals who are perceived as different, and their need to mask their flaws in order to be accepted.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
