The hive. A space-home for arts in Milan

It is noticeable how Milan is already a globalized city. This aspect reflects surely the art world giving the possibility to look at the city in a different way. For this reason, the aim of this project was to find a new space/home for the discipline, a container for creativity. From the Latin meaning alveare , descending from alveus = a container hall, THE HIVE is a space that reflects precisely the functions housed in a beehive: the house, the work, the importance of the community and the individuality of the elements and a physical structure. The life and stay in a space that everyone would call “home” for a specific period and that would represent a space of peace and relax: the artist, in fact, can stay in his alveus, both living and working with his individuality, but at the same time being part of a system, the community and the architectural space in itself. It is not be entirely negligible the site that has been chosen for the project: Lambrate design district. The neighborhood is relevant for the presence of the station and a principal street, Via Giovanni Ventura, active only during Milan Design Week. Due to that, the purpose has been to highlight this street during all the year and to create a new center for the city, thanks also to the station indeed.

È evidente come Milano sia già una città globalizzata. Questo aspetto riflette sicuramente il mondo dell'arte dando la possibilità di guardare la città in un modo diverso. Per questo motivo, lo scopo di questo progetto era trovare un nuovo spazio / casa per la disciplina, un contenitore per la creatività. Dal latino che significa alveare, discendente da alveus = un container hall, THE HIVE è uno spazio che riflette proprio le funzioni ospitate in un alveare: la casa, il lavoro, l'importanza della comunità e l'individualità degli elementi e una struttura fisica . La vita e stare in uno spazio che tutti chiamerebbero "casa" per un determinato periodo e che rappresenterebbero uno spazio di pace e relax: l'artista, infatti, può rimanere nel suo alveo, sia vivendo che lavorando con la sua individualità, ma allo stesso tempo fa parte di un sistema, della comunità e dello spazio architettonico in sé. Non è del tutto trascurabile il sito che è stato scelto per il progetto: distretto di design di Lambrate. Il quartiere è rilevante per la presenza della stazione e di una via principale, Via Giovanni Ventura, attiva solo durante la Milano Design Week. A causa di ciò, lo scopo è stato quello di evidenziare questa strada durante tutto l'anno e di creare un nuovo centro per la città, grazie anche alla stazione.
