La rinascita del Naviglio della Martesana con una nuova centralità tra Greco e Gorla

Naviglio Martesana is conceived both as an element of design and connection between different components: various cities, different heights of lands, many functions and intertwined paths, but everything is thought for a single community: the one of the old village. After having considered and analyzed the history of three cities - Gorla, Greco, Turro - we decided to focus our attention on Gorla. First of all, we have studied all the aspects that led to the construction of this village; after that, we have examined the wide relationships between Naviglio Martesana and the city itself, also known as “The Little Paris”: Naviglio Martesana has contributed to transform the village, making it more productive and open from a social and economical point of view, allowing it to become the main protagonist of a great urban project. Gorla is situated on the border and it is composed by different architectural and landscape elements that interact with each other offering the community a beautiful place of meeting and socialization. Furthermore, also the public schools, the mutual aid societies and the institutes have played a fundamental role in strengthening the sociality of this place, increasing the desire of further developing the community itself. Each of these elements can be found also in the analysis of sports activities, such as the establishment of “Circolo Martesana”, which is part of the project. The topic we have chosen is the project of a thermal system which is able to interact with several functions linked to the history and community of that place. Using both historical and current references, we have studied and analyzed not only the important cult of the water, but also the places of meeting and socialization. In the end, we have described the project paying particular attention to the typological and architectural aspects of each building designed. The whole complex has been planned in order to be integrated with other new attractive centers that could characterize the axis of Naviglio Martesana, creating vitality and interaction between the whole and the single parts.

Il Naviglio Martesana vuole essere concepito come un elemento progettuale e di connessione tra componenti differenti tra loro: diversi comuni di pertinenza, numerosi salti di quota del terreno, varie funzioni ed intrecci di percorsi, ma il tutto pensato per un’unica comunità, quella dell’antico borgo. Analizzando e citando la storia dei tre comuni di pertinenza – Gorla, Greco, Turro – ci si è concentrato maggiormente su quello di Gorla. Inizialmente si sono studiati tutti gli aspetti che hanno portato alla formazione di questo borgo e, successivamente, sono state approfondite le relazioni più ampie che intercorrono e influenzano i rapporti tra il Naviglio Martesana e “La piccola Parigi”; Naviglio che ha trasformato il borgo, rendendolo più produttivo, più aperto socialmente ed economicamente e più protagonista di un disegno urbano. Posta su una terra di confine, Gorla è formata da differenti elementi architettonici e paesaggistici che interagiscono tra di loro e concedono alla comunità “liete mense e piacevoli sollazzi" (tratto da "Il Borgo di Gorla nella memoria delle cose e della sua gente.”, Edo Bricchetti). Fondamentali non sono solo i presidi e le isole di fede ma anche le scuole pubbliche, le società di mutuo soccorso e gli istituti che hanno fortificato la socialità stessa del luogo, incrementando la voglia di far crescere la comunità. Tutti questi elementi sono ben visibili anche nell’analisi delle attività sportive come l’istituzione del Circolo Martesana che verrà ripresa all’interno del progetto. Il tema scelto è quello di un sistema termale che possa interagire con una serie di funzioni legate alla storia e alla comunità del luogo. Non solo il culto dell’acqua ma anche i luoghi d'incontro e di socializzazione vengono analizzati e studiati attraverso riferimenti storici ed attuali. Infine è stato descritto l’intervento concependone i caratteri tipologici ed architettonici dei singoli edifici progettati. L’intero complesso è stato ideato per potersi integrare con altri nuovi poli attrattivi che potrebbero caratterizzare l’asse del Naviglio della Martesana, conferendone vitalità ed interazione tra il tutto e le parti.
