Acoustic emission was a minor design criterion for Diesel and Gasoline Systems products in the past. Due to more quiet engines the acoustic emission is getting more and more relevant and customers are focusing on this issue. Mechanical vacuum pumps are oil lubricated, driven by the engine camshaft and rely on a vane and a rotor to build successive expanding cameras in order to aspirate air from the brake booster, decreasing its internal pressure, which cuts down the necessary force to be applied at pedal. As the noise emission requirements are becoming more rigorous in the automotive market, it is necessary to have a standard procedure that analyses and foresees the noise sources and paths of the mechanical vacuum pump.
In passato l'emissione acustica dei componenti di sistemi Diesel e Benzina è stato un problema poco rilevante. A causa dei nuovi motori sempre più silenziosi, questo problema sta diventando più sentito e i clienti si stanno interessando a questa tematica. Le pompe del vuoto meccaniche sono lubricate ad olio, azionate dall'albero a camme del motore e utilizzano una paletta e un rotore per costruire camere espandibili in modo da estrarre aria dal servofreno, diminuendo la sua pressione interna e riducendo la forza frenante al pedale. Siccome i requisiti sul rumore stanno diventando più stringenti nel mercato automobilistico, è necessario avere uno procedimento standard che analizzi e preveda le sorgenti e i percorsi di propagazione sonori nella pompa del vuoto meccanica.
