It is an “immortal” evidence of society, allowing to understand the evolution. A similar process exist for the world of Design. It is influenced by the continue changes of society. The object surviving in the time, it becomes immortal, an icon, that reflect the past like an industrial archeological find. Design can tell historical and political moments of a country because there is a durable and constant relationship through politic, shape and power. “Study Italian Design is a way to understand the history of our country”. This sentence introduced the opening of Triennale Design Museum 2007. The main objective of the exhibition is to create a chronological collection of Italian Design for understanding the history through the tale of the political junctures leading in the time. A story of political situation since the 1930 to the end of Italian Second Republic, and how it all affected positively, or not, the industrial production. A chronological reconstruction into decades that try to investigate, where it exists, the relationship between form and politic, design and power.
L’arte nel tempo è riuscita a mutare e rinnovarsi a seconda dei tempi correnti e a raccontare sempre con nuovi stili il panorama socio-politico di un determinato periodo storico. Una testimonianza “immortale” che diventa fondamentale per comprendere l’evoluzione di una determinata società. Un processo analogo esiste anche per il mondo del Design. Esso subisce continuamente i mutamenti di una società e da essi è spesso influenzato. L’oggetto sopravvive nel tempo, diventa “immortale”, icona, e rappresenta una forte testimonianza dei tempi passati, un reperto archeologico industriale. Il design riesce a raccontare i momenti storici e politici di una nazione poiché tra poltica, forma e potere vi è un costante rapporto, duraturo nel tempo. “Studiare il design italiano è un modo per studiare la storia del nostro Paese”. Questa scritta introduceva l’apertura del Triennale Design Museum nel 2007. L’obiettivo della mostra è quello di creare una raccolta cronologica del Design Italiano e comprenderne la storia attraversoil racconto dei vari momenti politici che si sono susseguiti nel tempo. Un racconto della situazione politica italiana, dagli anni ’30 alla fine della Seconda Repubblica, e di come tutto ciò ha influenzato, o no, la produzione industriale, in maniera positiva o negativa. Una ricostruzione cronologica tra decenni che cerca di indagare, dove esiste, il rapporto tra forma e politica, tra designer e potere.
