Una nuova realtà. Lo stato dell’arte delle tecnologie di realtà aumentata e virtuale

The thesis is intended to focus on the state of the art of Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality technologies. They will be introduced and defined by the descriptions of the pioneers who sanctioned their birth. The history of these technologies will be retraced, starting from the 1960s to the present day with a vision of the most important devices that, like milestones, have marked the way. Through the data published by two of the most important institutions of the sector, Nielsen and Goldman Sachs, the current market of Augmented and Virtual Reality and their actual adoption will be analyzed. Following this analysis, a focus will be placed on the broader part of the current market: the use of Augmented Reality via mobile. Evaluation sheets will then be introduced and commented on the most important applications that will make the current trends emerge. Finally, after having retraced the history and having analyzed the current situation, guidelines will be presented for future developments of these technologies in the years to come.

L’elaborato di tesi si propone di fotografare lo stato dell’arte delle tecnologie di Realtà Aumentata e Realtà Virtuale. Verranno introdotte e definite dalle descrizioni dei pionieri che ne hanno sancito la nascita. Verrà ripercorsa la storia di queste tecnologie, a partire dagli anni ’60 fino ai giorni nostri con una visione dei più importanti device che, come pietre miliari, ne hanno scandito la strada. Attraverso i dati pubblicati da due dei più importanti enti del settore, Nielsen e Goldman Sachs, sarà analizzato il mercato attuale della Realtà Aumentata e Virtuale e la loro effettiva adozione. A seguito di questa analisi verrà effettuato un focus sulla parte più ampia del mercato attuale: l’utilizzo della Realtà Aumentata tramite mobile. Saranno quindi introdotte e commentate delle schede di valutazione sulle più importanti Applicazioni che ne faranno emergere le tendenze attuali. Infine, dopo averne ripercorso la storia e averne analizzata la situazione attuale, saranno presentate delle linee guida per i prossimi sviluppi di queste tecnologie negli anni a venire.
