Today many young adults suffer from social anxiety in relation to performing physical activity in public spaces and private gyms, bringing them to give up sports by being scared of judgement and fearing failure. Moreover, it has been noticed that in Italy’s population, the sedentary lifestyle increases by age and is significantly more frequent in women, people with lower scholar degrees and with financial difficulties. In this context, during the last decade, public figures similar to personal trainers have emerged on the streaming and video sharing platform YouTube, where they give out free fitness regimes and workouts. The objective of this thesis is to conduct an analysis of the online communities that gather around channels that promote individual, do-it-yourself fitness, to determine whether they can be an effective communication tool to interact with a target of digital natives with a sedentary lifestyle. It will be important to study this category of YouTube channels, together with their creators and uploaded content, and in particular on how members of their communities interact with each other. In the conclusions, I would like to focus on which aspects communication designers can use as leverage to promote the importance of a healthy lifestyle and how the ongoing pandemic has influenced the world of online fitness.

Abstract
In the conclusions, I would like to focus on which aspects communication designers can use as leverage to promote the importance of a healthy lifestyle and how the ongoing pandemic has influenced the world of online fitness.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
