The use of buffers in production/assembly/packaging lines with high cycle times and therefore production rates is essential to achieve the desired efficiencies and to increase total production. The study and dimensioning of buffers, therefore, play a fundamental role in optimizing industrial performance. The aim of this thesis is to demonstrate how useful it is to better plan the logic of using a buffer or to determine a priori parameters such as capacity, by using DES (discrete event simulation) that can recreate a situation similar to the real one in a virtual environment, allowing us to analyze the impact of different solutions or their parameters on the final performance without modifying the real system.

Abstract
The use of buffers in production/assembly/packaging lines with high cycle times and therefore production rates is essential to achieve the desired efficiencies and to increase total production. The study and dimensioning of buffers, therefore, play a fundamental role in optimizing industrial performance. The aim of this thesis is to demonstrate how useful it is to better plan the logic of using a buffer or to determine a priori parameters such as capacity, by using DES (discrete event simulation) that can recreate a situation similar to the real one in a virtual environment, allowing us to analyze the impact of different solutions or their parameters on the final performance without modifying the real system.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
