Social media and streaming devices have totally changed the approach to the music and the music business itself. The first objective of this reserarch is to investigate the social mechanisms that have rapidly transformed audience interactions with music, starting from Spotify, passing through the Instagram stories and the most recent live streaming apps. The influence of communication via social media and the constant reduction of boundaries between different fields is changing the dynamics of music production, showing new artists emerging from Tik Tok trends, increasingly shorter albums and an enormous amount of singles released as post on social networks. How will be the music business in the future ? The intent is to provide a key to predicting and interpreting future scenarios of the music evolution.
Con l’avvenire dei social media e dei servizi streaming, l’approccio nei confronti della musica è totalmente mutato, cambiando conseguentemente il mondo dell’industria musicale. La tesi ha come primo obiettivo indagare i meccanismi sociali che hanno rapidamente trasformato le interazioni del pubblico con la musica, a partire da Spotify, passando per le instagram stories e le più recenti app di live streaming. L’influenza della comunicazione via social e la costante riduzione di confini tra ambiti diversi sta cambiando le dinamiche della produzione della musica, mostrando come primi frutti nuovi artisti emersi dai trend di Tik Tok, album sempre più brevi e un’enorme quantità di singoli pubblicati come post sui social network. Il COVID inoltre ha enormemente inciso sulle nuove tecnologie dello streaming ma anche nello stop della musica live, comportando una nuova sfida nella fase di riapertura al pubblico. Come sarà il futuro della musica? L’intento in questo caso è fornire una chiave di lettura per prevedere ed interpretare scenari futuri dell’evoluzione musicale.
