Injection molding of plastics represents more than 30% of worldwide produced pieces. For many years, quality control of produced parts has been an active research area, but due to the complex nature of the injection molding process, different approaches with improvements still appear. This work will focus on creating a framework consisting of three parts: a machine learning model, an automated pipeline and a quality controller. The model will replicate the inner workings of the injection molding machine, predicting part quality based on different process input parameters. The goal of the pipeline is to automatically manage and deploy the machine learning model, simplifying maintenance and retraining. Finally, the quality controller will make use of the model and other techniques so that the machine produces the least possible defective parts. The results of this work are promising, especially regarding the machine learning model and the pipeline, and the framework can be very powerful if validated for different machines and industries.

Abstract
The results of this work are promising, especially regarding the machine learning model and the pipeline, and the framework can be very powerful if validated for different machines and industries.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
