The heterogeneous electrophotocatalysis on titanium dioxide is an advanced oxidation process (AOP), based on mechanisms of chemical oxidation by free radicals, which allows the degradation of organic compounds. Through photoelectrochemical tests the properties of titanium dioxide were investigated in dependence on operating parameters, assessed by the photoelectric response generated by the material. Starting from the results has been possible to identify the optimal configuration of a electrophotocatalysis reactor, whose geometric characteristics were determined by modeling, with the purpose to maximize the photoelectric response. Finally, degradation tests of an azo dye have been effected with the aim of verifying the ability of the degradation process and studying the kinetics involved.

Abstract
The heterogeneous electrophotocatalysis on titanium dioxide is an advanced oxidation process (AOP), based on mechanisms of chemical oxidation by free radicals, which allows the degradation of organic compounds. In the present work, the nanostructured photocatalytic material was produced by anodic oxidation. Finally, degradation tests of an azo dye have been effected with the aim of verifying the ability of the degradation process and studying the kinetics involved.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
