This thesis exposes a multibody modeling technique for the study of the passive safety of helicopter structure in the condition of vertical impact. The development of numerical models and related simulations has been done with the code MUSIAC (Multi Scale Impact and Crash): software designed to solve dynamic problems and crashes with multibody models. The adoption of this technique has allowed to achieve several advantages including simplification of the problem by reducing the degrees of freedom and the substantial reduction of the calculation time required for studying the dynamics of the typical phenomena of impact. This model was then used for the realization of sensitivity analysis and for the optimization of the structural design, through a second dedicated code called NEXUS. The novelty of this work lies in optimizing simultaneously all the energy absorbers commonly found in helicopters, with the aim of minimizing the forces transmitted to occupants as a result of a crash.

Abstract
The novelty of this work lies in optimizing simultaneously all the energy absorbers commonly found in helicopters, with the aim of minimizing the forces transmitted to occupants as a result of a crash.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
