Path-planning for dual-arm industrial robots is a problem that has recently come to attention because of the technology improvement. This Thesis provides a new approach to this topic, considering scenarios where human-robot interaction is possible. In particular, a centralized, probabilistically complete and safe-oriented algorithm for planning these paths is presented. Based on the previously introduced concept of Danger Field, the method allows the automatic generation of the arms' paths from an initial to a goal position; synchronous movements of a manipulator across these paths guarantee the absence of collisions with obstacles and between the two arms. Starting from this result, a completely new method is proposed whose goal is to make a desynchronization between the paths during their execution possible. The algorithm allows an almost completely decoupled assignment of the motion profiles to the paths limiting the synchronization to the strictly necessary. The algorithm has been validated through experiments on the ABB FRIDA concept robot; some results are shown.

Abstract
The algorithm has been validated through experiments on the ABB FRIDA concept robot; some results are shown.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
