Electric Arc Furnace fumes are a little practical interest byproduct, containing many hazardous substances but also a good part of zinc that could be recycled by several technologies, including Waelz process. Fumes are processed in order to recover, in addition to the already mentioned zinc, even the lead fraction they contain, forming Waelz oxide: a product with high percentages of zinc, in the order of 50÷60%, useful as raw material in the zinc secondary production. The waste of this process there is the Waelz slag, containing the main fraction of heavy metals previously present in the fumes feed. Without further treatments it must be listed as hazardous waste. The aim of this thesis work is to find the conditions that help the Waelz slag stabilization by formation of amorphous structures, in order to obtain an eco-compatible byproduct and make possible their recycling as cementitious material [1] [2], as well as steel slag.

Abstract
The aim of this thesis work is to find the conditions that help the Waelz slag stabilization by formation of amorphous structures, in order to obtain an eco-compatible byproduct and make possible their recycling as cementitious material [1] [2], as well as steel slag.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
