Abstract
The research starts from a wide analysis of the current technologies in use for sheltering after a disaster by the humanitarian sector and highlight how innovation can be applied in the field which is reluctant to changes. Textile materials, together with the innovative structural principle of Tensairity® have been identified as promising means to vehicle innovation in the sector. Material selection depends from the intrinsic characteristic of fabrics: lightness, cheapness, and easiness to process almost all over the world. On the other hand, Tensairity® principles have been identified for its characteristics of velocity of deployment, easy adaptability and implementation of the system with materials which are available on site, stimulating the local economy. A progressive approach which includes process and products is presented as a whole.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
