The recent technological development has allowed us to disrupt the normal paradigms of interaction between human and machine, changing not only how to consume but also the very nature of the content. New avenues for the application of the latest technologies are now opened, and in the specific context of this thesis is evaluated their contribution for therapy of children with autism spectrum disorders. Given the great importance of play-therapy in this context, a set of games for Kinect were developed. They arise in order to encourage socialization and collaboration.

Abstract
The recent technological development has allowed us to disrupt the normal paradigms of interaction between human and machine, changing not only how to consume but also the very nature of the content. New avenues for the application of the latest technologies are now opened, and in the specific context of this thesis is evaluated their contribution for therapy of children with autism spectrum disorders. Given the great importance of play-therapy in this context, a set of games for Kinect were developed. They arise in order to encourage socialization and collaboration. From an engineering point of view, it was of great importance the requirements gathering and definition of the guidelines for applications for users with special needs. The results are interesting and allow us to affirm that the gesture based interaction, the bodily interaction and the augmented reality are certainly a path to follow in the coming years.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
