This study faces the problem of being able to define the effects on train circulation caused by planned track interruptions; indeed, the need to contain costs by railway companies prompts them to seek new diurnal temporal spaces in order to perform maintenance operations. The research of temporal spaces during the day and the definition of effects of interruptions are problems whose resolution has always relied on the staff experience but now can make use of the numerous railway simulation software on the market. Among programs, OpenTrack is one of the most appreciated and its quality has been confirmed by numerous tests carried out during the work. OpenTrack has simulate scenarios resulting from interruptions, defining their effects and so allowing the infrastructure manager to be more aware of choices. The use of the software has also identified excellences and weaknesses, valuable observations for those who intend to use them in the future for new studies in the field.

Abstract
The use of the software has also identified excellences and weaknesses, valuable observations for those who intend to use them in the future for new studies in the field.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
