Radiant floors are acquiring, nowadays, considerable usage in residential heating and cooling, either in case of new buildings or in renovations. Their use, in heating purpose, couple appropriately with low temperature generators such as heat pumps and condensing boilers. The purpose of the following thesis is to determine whether the layer of the floor containing the radiant panels may be considered as a surface with a uniform temperature. It will examine the two most widely used system layout: serpentine and counter flow. The conclusions will be provided for both the steady state and the transient conditions. The case studies are performed with the finite difference method and the aid of MATLAB™.

Abstract
Radiant floors are acquiring, nowadays, considerable usage in residential heating and cooling, either in case of new buildings or in renovations. Their use, in heating purpose, couple appropriately with low temperature generators such as heat pumps and condensing boilers. The purpose of the following thesis is to determine whether the layer of the floor containing the radiant panels may be considered as a surface with a uniform temperature. It will examine the two most widely used system layout: serpentine and counter flow. The conclusions will be provided for both the steady state and the transient conditions. The case studies are performed with the finite difference method and the aid of MATLAB™.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
