Abstract
The target of this thesis is the design of an aerodynamic kit for the Formula Student car of the Politecnico di Milano. To improve the performance of a competition vehicle, is required to increase the tire contact forces ant to have the right balance; to do this, it’s work out aerodynamics that must give downforce whit advancement resistance as small as possible. To do aerodynamics the first step is the simplification of the model, than it’s done a mesh in a boundary zone and are done fluid dynamic simulations to evaluate the initial situation. The next step is the design of a flat bottom, of a rear wing, of a front wing and finally, if necessary, of some other aerodynamic parts. Whenever a new part is added to the model, fluid dynamic simulations are done to evaluated the influence of this component. More test are carried out to find the best combination flat bottom-wings. After the fluid dynamic modeling, is required a mechanical design to made possible the realization of the kit. In the end should be carried out test in wind tunnel or road test to validate the model and the simulations made.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
