Abstract
The involved choice of an area, the attention and the gaze to the existing pattern, the building of a motive for an architecture acting within a broad generating principle were the drivers of the work. The deepening of an architectural aspect allows us to clearly define a recognizable and renown rule, to create a system in line with the well established structure of Ticino area. Starting from Roman centuriazioni , through the fortifications of the Visconti-Sforza age, from Marian shrines and the eighteenth-century villas that settled along the edge of the river, to the expansion matrix of clerical monasteries, arises an attraction for a discontinuous sequence of discrete elements that suggest a way to occupy the specific territory. Centuratio and limitatio are the key elements defining the main guidelines for dimensioning the rural territory. In this scenario his well highlighted the river, in its fundamental role of direttore of the valley countryside and of the settlements added to it. It results that water is the main entity in the relations between the Ticino’s valley and the villas on its banks. The popular and spontaneous architectural typology of rural house has been an essential resource to try to think like peasants, to penetrate their thinking and seize the essential spirit of the past. The history and the needs of Villa Torriani have constantly suggested the right way to specify its nature, its beginning and its capacity to become essential to the project, to the regula definition. And here we have the variation of the courtyard type, which inherits a castle structure and that is structured as a system of spaces that reflect the principles of composition of the settlements of the certose. The global picture, carefull work based on logic decisions, on choices following the truth of relations and coming from a texture of real world relations, is revealed as an obvious outcome, a writing that is regola, a compositional principle which is modification of a known base .File | Dimensione | Formato | |
