Generally, The thesis aim is to design a Building of complex functions of public character. The Project addresses issues of solving complex functional and construction problems, issues of urban integration and balance of structured outdoor space, attempting to ask questions and give answers to contemporary architectural design problems. The building of the Institute of Architecture is going to house activities related to issues of the Architecture of the city, both as a theoretical research project and as an implementation, in all the scales that it is presented. It seeks to be active in all areas that can attract the interest of the public and promote the cause of architectural creation in Athens, with the ultimate goal of cultivating a broader critical awareness and awareness of the expediency, content and proposals of architecture. Design Criteria and Principles of the project are recognition of the characteristics of the urban space, their importance for the synthetic choices and the integration of the building in its environment. The height growth and the vertical structure of the building. Arranging places for movement and gathering of the public, solving internal traffic problems. The design of the immediate outdoor common area and its importance. The deepening in issues of coupling of architectural design and construction expression. The configuration and design of the bearing body, the parameters that affect the construction and technological choices, as well as the parameters of environmental issues. Dealing with construction issues that arise during the design of the building. The design of interior and exterior as a whole. The organization and character of the interior, the importance of materials, lighting and constructions in the synthetic solution. This project aims particularly to understand the interrelated relationship of part and all, space, shell, construction, the “inside” and the “outside” in the creation of the architectural work and the overthrow of unabashedly established priorities in the formulation of these relations. The project is concerned with the Public building in the urban area and its height development. These two parameters (height of the building and urban environment), specify for the designer certain ways of handling, in order for the result to meet, in addition to the specific requirements arising from the specific program, principles concerning its integration of the building in the urban fabric and in its relation with the directly structured space and in the qualitative utilization of the space available for exploitation. The arrangement of the volumes, the form and the characteristics of the space that surrounds the new building belong to the first category. The height development and the rational organization of the construction imposed by it (which will be investigated at the same time and in direct relation to the synthetic options), the satisfaction of the functional and building requirements in the context of the space economy, as well as the systematization of horizontal and vertical movements, belong to the second category.

In generale, l'obiettivo della tesi è progettare un edificio di funzioni complesse di carattere pubblico. Il Progetto affronta problematiche di risoluzione di complessi problemi funzionali e costruttivi, problematiche di integrazione urbana ed equilibrio di spazi esterni strutturati, tentando di porre domande e dare risposte a problemi di progettazione architettonica contemporanea. L'edificio dell'Istituto di Architettura ospiterà attività legate ai temi dell'Architettura della città, sia come progetto di ricerca teorica che come attuazione, in tutte le scale che viene presentato. Cerca di essere attivo in tutte le aree che possono attirare l'interesse del pubblico e promuovere la causa della creazione architettonica ad Atene, con l'obiettivo finale di coltivare una più ampia consapevolezza critica e consapevolezza dell'opportunità, dei contenuti e delle proposte dell'architettura. Criteri e Principi progettuali del progetto sono il riconoscimento delle caratteristiche dello spazio urbano, la loro importanza per le scelte sintetiche e l'integrazione dell'edificio nel suo ambiente. La configurazione e il design del corpo portante, i parametri che influenzano le scelte costruttive e tecnologiche, nonché i parametri delle problematiche ambientali. Affrontare i problemi di costruzione che sorgono durante la progettazione dell'edificio. Il design di interni ed esterni nel suo complesso. L'organizzazione e il carattere degli interni, l'importanza dei materiali, dell'illuminazione e delle costruzioni nella soluzione sintetica. Questo progetto mira in particolare a comprendere il rapporto interrelato tra parte e tutto, spazio, involucro, costruzione, “dentro” e “fuori” nella creazione dell'opera architettonica e il rovesciamento di priorità sfacciatamente stabilite nella formulazione di queste relazioni. Il progetto riguarda l'edificio pubblico nell'area urbana e il suo sviluppo in altezza. Questi due parametri (altezza del fabbricato e ambiente urbano), specificano per il progettista alcune modalità di movimentazione, affinché il risultato soddisfi, oltre alle specifiche esigenze derivanti dallo specifico programma, i principi riguardanti la sua integrazione dell'edificio nel il tessuto urbano e nel suo rapporto con lo spazio direttamente strutturato e nell'utilizzo qualitativo dello spazio disponibile per lo sfruttamento. La disposizione dei volumi, la forma e le caratteristiche dello spazio che circonda il nuovo edificio appartengono alla prima categoria. Lo sviluppo in altezza e l'organizzazione razionale della costruzione da esso imposta (che verrà indagata contestualmente e in relazione diretta alle opzioni sintetiche), la soddisfazione delle esigenze funzionali ed edilizie anche nell'ambito della space economy come la sistematizzazione dei movimenti orizzontali e verticali, appartengono alla seconda categoria.
