The decision to design a new Valpolicella Negrar winery as a thesis was born following a competition promoted in 2014 by the winery in collaboration with YAC (Young Architects Competitions) and Order of Architects of the province of Verona. The aim of the competition was the transformation of the current winery's headquarters from an industrial plant, made up of a multitude of elements with no continuity aimed to production, to real architectural manifesto capable of expressing the power of a leading company in the sector for product experience and quality. With the aim of obtaining an optimal result, the competition indicated some design guidelines, which ranged from the need of expansion of some production spaces to the inclusion of environments that confer greater value to the winery, transforming it also into a place dedicated to culture, education and tasting. The indications of the competition were taken from the first moment as a starting point for the definition of the project; however, the need to enrich its contents with the theme of the link with the territory was immediately clear. In fact, Negrar is a municipality in the Verona area, part of the classic Valpolicella, a place traditionally linked to the production of wine and whose territory is full of wine cellars. The architectural tradition of wine cellars in Veneto is linked to the traditional Venetian villas which, conceived as a synthesis between a place of agricultural production and a prestigious country residence of the aristocratic and bourgeois class, often included also the spaces used for winemaking. It is not a coincidence, in fact, that numerous Venetian villas are still the subject of a restoration work carried out with the aim of hosting cellars: this choice comes from the shared wish to underline the link between cellars and territory. Consequently, the sumptuous but at the same time productive Venetian villas, which characterized these places starting from the XVI century, have become the design key to connect the project to the territory and at the same time give it a cultural value. In particular, Andrea Palladio, the greater Renaissance master, distinguished himself in the design of these - so called - farm villas. The study is also operated redesigning the Venetian villas and of Palladio's work, and it has therefore allowed us to extrapolate a series of themes that have become fundamental in the project, defining its development in a preponderant way. The summary of the previous considerations has given a completely new project for the Cantina Valpolicella Negrar: the result is a complex in which the production spaces are clearly separated from the representative environments. The architectural organism is therefore composed of a productive part in a backward position and a series of representative buildings, placed in the first zone accessible after the main entrance limit; these volumes offer, in addition to the offices, some spaces dedicated to entertainment both cultural and food and wine visitors, such as museum, auditorium and tasting room. The importance of these spaces is linked to the fact that they collaborate in the construction of a prestigious image for the new winery, which is also fundamental for the marketing aspect of a company that operates on a global level. The result is a multi-purpose building full of meanings, in which the link with the tradition of the Venetian villas and the territory is evident, also able to meet all the needs of a modern wine cellar and, at the same time, to offer to the visitors spaces dedicated to culture and tasting.

Abstract
The decision to design a new Valpolicella Negrar winery as a thesis was born following a competition promoted in 2014 by the winery in collaboration with YAC (Young Architects Competitions) and Order of Architects of the province of Verona. The aim of the competition was the transformation of the current winery's headquarters from an industrial plant, made up of a multitude of elements with no continuity aimed to production, to real architectural manifesto capable of expressing the power of a leading company in the sector for product experience and quality.
