This project is based on the context of the COVID-19 global pandemic. In response to the deficiencies exposed by the Italian medical system in this crisis, the Italian Ministry of Health issued a decree and guidance documents on the establishment of community centers(Casa della Comunità) across the country. This community center is developed on the basis of the existing health house(Case della Salute) to guarantee citizens an equal, complete and continuous health care, as well as to provide full possibilities for related social activities and professional collaboration. The construction of community centers will result from the renovation or refurbishment of existing buildings, such as outdated district outpatient facilities or hospital wards to be changed, and other public or private buildings to be transformed. In addition to that, they can also build new buildings. The 1930s anti-malaria office on Pontine Plain in central Italy is an excellent example of what could be converted to serve as a community center for the people living in Pontinia, which was built during the Fascist regime, and in the vast surrounding outskirts . The building was established in the 1930s in the context of global anti-malarial research centered on Italy and is a branch point of the numerous anti-malarial research institutes in the Pontine Marshes. It was then gradually abandoned due to human victory over malaria. The anti-malarial movement greatly contributed to the development of medicine and the establishment of the Italian medical system in the 19th and 20th centuries. This anti-malaria office once played an important historical role, and in the face of crisis and challenges in the current new century, we believe that through the transformation and definition of it, we will better improve social health services and make it a better one.

Abstract
This anti-malaria office once played an important historical role, and in the face of crisis and challenges in the current new century, we believe that through the transformation and definition of it, we will better improve social health services and make it a better one.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
